OUTOTEC OYJ  PRESS RELEASE   JANUARY 30, 2013  at 1:30 PM

Outotec to provide a renewable energy solution for a bio-ethanol facility in USA

Outotec has agreed with a major cellulosic ethanol producer on the design and delivery of a renewable energy solution for a bio-ethanol facility in USA. The order has been included in Outotec's Q4 2012 order intake and its value will not be disclosed.

The customer's bio-ethanol facility is among the first commercial scale cellulosic bio-ethanol facilities in the United States.  It is expected to produce up to approximately 95 million liters of cellulosic bio-ethanol per year. With Outotec's fluidized bed energy system the bio-ethanol facility will also cogenerate renewable energy of saturated steam which is used in the process.

Outotec's scope of delivery covers the fluidized bed energy system technology, engineering and proprietary equipment for the boiler island from metering bin to stack. The plant is designed to produce energy from residual cellulosic ethanol wet cake and by-products using Outotec's advanced staged gasification technology. In addition, Outotec will provide installation and start-up advisory services.

"This order supports our strategic target to apply our technologies to interesting growth areas, such as renewable energy production, with high horizontal technological synergies. We are excited to contribute with our renewable energy technology to goal of making cellulosic bio-ethanol a viable commercial reality. Through recently acquired Energy Products of Idaho - EPI - Outotec has pioneered in the area of biomass combustion and gasification and has delivered over one hundred renewable energy solutions. We can offer our customers sustainable solutions for turning waste to energy and valuable products, and thus reduce environmental impacts such as greenhouse gas emissions", says Outotec CEO Pertti Korhonen.
