Outotec's corporate responsibility reporting awarded with an honorary mention

Outotec received jury's honorary mention in the competition evaluating the corporate responsibility reporting of the Finnish companies. The winner was Kesko Oyj.

Outotec published its first corporate responsibility report, Outotec Sustainability report 2010, this year. According to jury's appraisal Outotec's report stood out among the best:

"The report takes well into account Outotec's own operations' as well as the industry's and the supply chain's impact also in a wider respect. Also indirect impacts of the products and services are described comprehensively. Outotec has, for example, reported its customers' estimated emission reduction through use of Outotec's products and services. The report describes also for instance sustainability drivers as well as risks and opportunities from corporate responsibility point of view."

The jury had representatives from eight organizing parties: Aalto University School of Economics, The Confederation of Finnish Industries, Finnish Business & Society, The Finnish Institute of Authorized Public Accountants, The Central Organisation of Finnish Trade Unions, the Ministry of Employment and the Economy, The Association for Environmental Management and Ministry of the Environment.

Altogether there were 129 listed companies and 20 other companies participating. 11 of the companies were selected to the final. The competition aims to examine the present state of corporate responsibility reporting and its trends. The patron of the competition was President of the Republic of Finland Ms. Tarja Halonen.

Outotec sustainability report together with a separate casebook demonstrating Outotec's track record in providing sustainable solutions is available at www.outotec.com/sustainability and as a printed hardcopy in English.
