Home Sustainability
Sustainability means that we do things efficiently and responsibly in terms of the environment, people and the economy. The three dimensions are critical throughout our value chain, from research and development to the end product.

Sustainability a key driver for our operations

The solutions and services we provide play a key role in improving customers’ safety, energy efficiency and water resources management as well as minimizing waste and emissions in their operations.

People are our most valuable asset. Making sure that our people and people around us stay safe, healthy and they are treated with respect, is a starting point for our everyday business.

Our science based targets

Metso Outotec has set Science Based Targets (SBT) in alignment with limiting global warming to 1.5°C. This will be implemented through a focus on sustainable offerings and innovations and by reducing CO2 emissions of our operations. Our target is to reduce CO2 emissions by 50% in our own production by 2030 vs 2019 and 20% in logistics by 2025 vs 2019.

We are also targeting that 30% of the supplier spend by the end of 2025 is with partners who have set a SBT emission target. Over 90% of our R&D projects are targeted to have energy, emissions or water targets.

Metso Outotec supports TCFD framework

The Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) is a voluntary framework to help businesses identify, measure and report the financial implications of climate change. The TCFD is aiming to develop voluntary and consistent reporting about financial risks and opportunities caused by climate change. It has launched recommendations, and currently more than 1 000 global organizations have declared support for the TCFD and its recommendations.

We at Metso Outotec are proud to support the TCFD and its recommendations. This means that we are committed to developing our climate-related financial disclosure and, at the same time, we encourage others to do so as well.
