Heavy-duty Nordberg® GP500S™ secondary cone crusher

Nordberg® GP500S™ secondary cone crusher in the larger end of Nordberg® GP Series™ cone crushers range. It features larger feed opening than Nordberg® GP550™ cone crusher for undisturbed operation and increased capacity.

Nordberg® GP500S™ can be utilized as secondary crusher in aggregates production and in mining operations.

In addition to a traditional stationary unit, this cone crusher is also available as a portable version.


GP500S™ is an excellent choice whenever high reduction, first-class cubicity or great capacity is required.

The optimized design of the the crusher castings makes it possible to use a higher power rating than any other cone crusher with an equal head diameter. Cavity designs provide maximum yields for required high-quality end products. The stroke and cavity change feature allows crusher throughput to be easily adjusted to work in harmony with the rest of the crushing plant.

The steep head angle in this cone crusher ensures trouble-free operation in varying feed conditions with a high reduction ratio. Continuing process and crusher control help to attain high availability with optimum production levels of desired end products.


GP500S™ is one of the GP Secondary cone crusher models. GP Secondary cone crushers are specifically designed for sometimes demanding secondary crushing stage where the feed flow may variate, and the feed size can be anything between extra coarse and extra fine. GP secondaries’ main feature is the capability to accept extra-large feed material versus their physical size. This “feed opening to weight ratio” enables optimization of the operating expenses and maximize uptime for the whole crushing circuit.

GP Secondaries’ big feed opening prevents blockages in the crusher. Big feed opening enables also the primary jaw crusher to be operated with more open closed side setting (CSS). Larger CSS enables significantly longer lifetime of the jaw dies and higher productivity of the plant. Constant feed opening and wear compensation, in turn, minimize the need to adjust the primary crusher’s parameters during operation.

Steep cavity of the GP Secondary cone crushers and the possibility to obtain shorter stroke ensure trouble-free operation in varying feed conditions with a high reduction ratio. This enables also situation where less quarry fines have to go to waste and can be made as an end product. Steep cavity enables also easier flow of slabby, slippery or moist feed material.


This Nordberg® secondary cone crusher has a simple but strong two-point supported shaft design that offers mechanical reliability. Furthermore, the crusher can be equipped with Metso Outotec’s IC50C crusher automation system that continuously monitors crusher load and operating parameters to ensure optimal performance level, maximized availability and smooth process adaptation.

The crusher’s reliability in demanding crushing applications is guaranteed by Metso Outotec's acclaimed metallurgical know-how, and ongoing development of manganese materials, metallurgical compounds and geometrical design.


The crusher can be adapted to any specific production requirements with adjustments such as change of cavities, eccentric strokes, counter shaft speeds and different control methods.

The stroke change feature allows crusher throughput to be easily adjusted to work in harmony with the rest of the crushing plant. The adjustable stroke also allows you to attain proper choke feed conditions and optimum crusher settings, ensuring the maximum yield of a required end-product size.


GP500S™ is engineered to be easy to maintain and service.

Using durable, optimized parts prolong the lifetime of equipment, but whenever service is required, this crusher can be disassembled from above, and all heavy components can be lifted.

This crusher has lower installation height that reduces installation costs since smaller support structures and shorter conveyors are needed.

The crusher automation enables adjusting GP500S™ secondary cone crusher from a distance, which reduces risks and improves the safety of the plant personnel.
