OUTOTEC OYJ PRESS RELEASE, JANUARY 7, 2010 AT 12.30 AM

Tapani Järvinen's environmental technology fund established

The board of the Helsinki University of Technology has established a fund named after Outotec's now retired CEO Tapani Järvinen. The fund aims at promoting the research of environmental technology and will fund distinguished individuals' research and development work. Outotec donated the basic capital for the fund.

"For years, Tapani Järvinen has been raising awareness on the environmental benefits and sustainability of Outotec's technologies among customers and in Outotec's own product development. The fund is an obeisance to Tapani Järvinen's valuable work and will aid future research and development of environmental technology," Chairman of the Outotec Board of Directors Risto Virrankoski says.

"The fund strengthens Aalto University's research in metallurgy and process technology related environmental technology and improves the competitiveness of Finnish industry internationally," Executive Dean Matti Pursula, from Aalto University, says.
