OUTOTEC OYJ PRESS RELEASE, DECEMBER 14, 2009 AT 10.30 AM

Outotec to deliver flotation technology for Minera Escondida in Chile

Outotec has made an agreement with Minera Escondida Ltda on an extensive flotation technology delivery for Escondida's production improvement project in Los Colorados and Laguna Seca concentrator plants.

Outotec's delivery to Los Colorados will encompass ten cells of model Outotec TankCell® 300, each 300 m³ of capacity. Outotec TankCell® 300 has the largest flotation cell volume in operation in the world. Furthermore a total of 18 cells of model Outotec TankCell® 160 will be installed at the Laguna Seca plant.

All new cells, as well as 80 existing ones at Los Colorados, will be equipped with the new Outotec FloatForce® flotation mechanism. Outotec FloatForce® improves the metallurgical performance of existing flotation circuits.

Start-up of the new flotation cells is programmed for mid-2010.
