Biohydrometallurgy Day CTRI – Val d'Or, September 26th, 2019
The Centre Technologique des Résidus Industriels (CTRI) organized a biohydrometallurgy day in Val d’Or, Quebec, Canada. The aim of the event was to promote an international exchange of scientific knowledge and experience in the field of biohydrometallurgy, and it provided an opportunity to discuss the ongoing work in the field and future prospects both in terms of research and applications on an industrial scale.
Outotec’s Jan van Niekerk presented a paper on the unlocking of value from refractory gold ores using the BIOX process.
International Biohydrometallurgy Symposium (IBS) – Fukuoka, Japan, October 21st, 2019
IBS is the biannual global conference on biohydrometallurgy, bioremediation, and related subjects. The 23rd IBS conference was held in Fukuoka, Japan.
Jan van Niekerk gave a talk on “Incorporating Project Techno-Economic Evaluation During BIOX Testwork Programs”. The paper discussed the importance of understanding the impact of decisions taken during the testwork phase on the design and cost of a commercial BIOX plant.
International Mining Convention – Acapulco, Mexico, October 22nd–25th, 2019
The 32nd International Mining Convention was held in Mundo Imperial de Acapulco and welcomed close to 12,000 attendees and almost 400 exhibiting companies.
Marc Nicol presented a paper on “Outotec’s Enhanced and Sustainable Solutions for Treating Complex (Refractory and Preg-robbing) Gold Ores”. The paper highlighted Outotec’s ability to successfully provide solutions for the complex ores that are becoming more common around the world. Moreover, our ASTER thiocyanate destruction technology makes water balancing more effective and supports Outotec’s vision to be a responsible and sustainable technology provider.
