OUTOTEC OYJ PRESS RELEASE NOVEMBER 13, 2014 at 9:00 AM

Outotec's sustainability report chosen as the best in Finland by investors

Outotec received for the third consecutive year Readers' Choice award, this year by Investors, in the competition evaluating 138 corporate responsibility reports of Finnish companies. Outotec's sustainability report 2013 was amongst the top 10 reports in the competition. The way how companies report the impacts of their responsibility from both resource efficiency and economic point of view was emphasized in the assessment. The winner in the overall competition was Kesko Oyj.

"Outotec's sustainability report is exceptionally interesting and easy to read, and it covers all the relevant topics. Outotec has succeeded in embedding sustainability in the heart of its strategy, and for this reason the report genuinely describes the company's operations. The company's sustainability work is explained in an exceptionally transparent and concrete way with the key message visible throughout the report. For example, the supply chain was well described," said Sauli Vilén, Head of Research at Inderes Oy.

"I am happy to see our sustainability report once again amongst the top ten reports in Finland. Sustainability is a key element in our strategy, and therefore it is vital that we are able to tell our story in a clear and interesting way. Investors are a demanding audience, and it's a special pleasure to be the Investors' number one choice for the best report," states Outotec's SVP, Marketing, Communications & Corporate Responsibility Minna Aila.

The jury had representatives from seven organizing parties: Aalto University School of Economics, The Finnish Institute of Authorized Public Accountants, The Ministry of Employment and the Economy, the Ministry of the Environment, The Association for Environmental Management (YJY), Nasdaq Helsinki, and Finnish Business & Society.

The competition evaluated 138 corporate responsibility reports, including all Nasdaq OMX Helsinki listed companies. The winners were selected among 10 companies who received the highest scores in the evaluation. The competition aims to examine the present state of corporate responsibility reporting and its trends.
