OUTOTEC OYJ  PRESS RELEASE  DECEMBER 27, 2013  at 1:00 PM

Outotec wins EUR 100 million orders in Turkey

Outotec will deliver technology and services worth over EUR 100 million to Cengiz Group for their Mazidagi and Samsun operations in Turkey. The orders include a roasting plant for pyrite concentrates, calcine leaching and solvent extraction plants, copper smelter modernization, as well as gas cleaning and sulfuric acid plants. The orders will be booked in Outotec's 2013 fourth quarter order intake.

Cengiz Group, a major Turkish aluminum and copper producer, is planning to expand production capacity, lengthen the lifetime of their mine and improve the environmental and safety performance of the operations.

Outotec's scope of delivery includes technologies, engineering, proprietary equipment, process control system, as well as advisory services for installation, commissioning and start-up of the plants. The solutions chosen by the customer are using market leading Outotec technologies, such as fluidized bed based roasting, flash smelting, autoclave leaching and sulfuric acid plants, and they include the latest innovations such as advanced HEROS heat recovery system as well as the new modular VSF®X solvent extraction plant concept developed by Outotec and launched in December 2013. The deliveries will take place from late 2014 until 2016.

"We are pleased to deliver our latest technologies to Cengiz Group for upgrading their operations. With the modernization, the Samsun smelter will double its capacity with significantly reduced emissions. I am very excited about the delivery of our new revolutionary VSF®X solvent extraction plant. Its novel concept based on prefabricated modules brings a paradigm shift to design, manufacturing, logistics, installation, operations and maintenance of a solvent extraction plant as it shortens the overall project time schedule, reduces the on-site implementation risks and costs and enables continuous plant operation even during maintenance. The plant is particularly environmentally safe as it is isolated from the soil and the modules can be recycled to a next installation after the end of life of the mine. The solution significantly reduces customer's total cost of ownership over the lifetime, enables highly efficient operations and flexible capacity expansion, and meets the strictest environmental and safety standards", says Outotec's CEO Pertti Korhonen.
