OUTOTEC OYJ PRESS RELEASE, SEPTEMBER 18, 2012 AT 10:00 AM

Outotec provides flotation technology for copper concentrator in South America

Outotec will supply flotation technology for a major copper producer in South America to their concentrator expansion. The site is one of the largest copper producing sites in the world. The contract value is over EUR 30 million.

Outotec's delivery includes copper rougher and scavenger flotation technology with 70 pieces of proprietary TankCell® e300 flotation cells, which currently is the world's largest flotation cell volume in operation. TankCell® e300 flotation cells are equipped with Outotec's patented FloatForce® energy saving flotation mechanism, which reduces operating costs and environmental impact of the operations.

Start-up of the new flotation cells is scheduled for 2015.

"Outotec has supplied large flotation cells since the late 90's, and thanks to intensive R&D efforts we have successfully scaled this technology to even larger volumes. Nearly 400 sold units of these flotation cells of 300 cubic meters in volume clearly prove that our flotation technology is leading the global industry trend towards large volume operations with energy saving technologies", says Outotec CEO Pertti Korhonen.
