Outotec to deliver flotation technology for First Quantum Minerals

OUTOTEC OYJ  PRESS RELEASE, MAY 12, 2010 AT 3.30 PM

Outotec to deliver flotation technology for First Quantum Minerals

Outotec has agreed with the First Quantum Minerals Limited Projects Office based in Perth, Australia, for the delivery of flotation, thickening and automation technologies for several of their operations around the world. The total value of the contracts exceeds EUR 20 million.

These orders include the delivery of 14 units of Outotec TankCell® 300 and 54 smaller TankCell® units for nickel and copper concentrate production for the Kevitsa project, located in northern Finland. This flotation technology delivery complements the earlier agreed supply of Outotec® grinding mills for the same project.

Kansanshi's copper and cobalt concentrator plant in Zambia has also selected to increase their production by six Outotec TankCell® 300 units after enjoying the performance and reliability of Outotec flotation technology for several years.

"The benefit of Outotec TankCell® 300 technology is that it provides a large flotation volume in very a compact footprint with low operating and maintenance costs," says Outotec's President and CEO Pertti Korhonen.

As part of the contracts, Outotec will also deliver Guelb Moghrein gold and copper concentrator plant in Mauretania advanced image analysis, reagent dosing automation and expert systems to optimize the flotation process. The flotation optimization project expands the current flotation expert systems supplied and commissioned earlier by Outotec.
