Outotec to deliver technology for Bhushan Power & Steel Plant in India

Outotec has agreed with Bhushan Power & Steel Plant Limited (BPSL) on the delivery of pelletizing technology for BPSL's steel plant expansion at Jharsuguda, located in Orissa state of India. The parties have agreed not to disclose the contract price.

Outotec's solution covers engineering and supply of proprietary equipment for an iron ore pelletizing plant designed to produce annually 3.85 million tonnes of pellets. The plant is scheduled to be commissioned in mid 2012. Historically the value of corresponding technology packages has been EUR 20-30 million depending on the scope. The order is included in Outotec's Q1/2010 order intake.

"India is rapidly developing its steel industry. Outotec has provided a dozen sinter plants and several pellet plants to India in recent years. This new Jharsuguda plant will increase Outotec's installed annual pellet capacity in India to above 26 million tonnes and confirms our leadership in iron ore processing technologies in India", says Pertti Korhonen, Outotec's President and CEO.
