Outotec to deliver turnkey drinking water treatment scheme to Sri Lanka   

Outotec has been awarded a major contract by the Government of Sri Lanka to supply a drinking water supply scheme to the Ampara District on the East Coast of Sri Lanka.  The value of the contract exceeds EUR 70 million.

Outotec's scope of delivery includes design, supply, construction, installation and commissioning of a water treatment plant and related pump stations and equipment, transmission mains and distribution piping as well as associated infrastructure. This project represents the third and final phase of a scheme designed to provide treated pipe borne water to over 75% of the Ampara District. The project, officially known as the Integrated Water Supply Scheme for the Un-served Areas of Ampara District - Phase III, has been the product of a drive from the Government of Sri Lanka to provide pipe borne drinking water to the rural areas of the island.  Following Outotec's delivery of Phases I and II in 1999 and 2002 respectively, completion of Phase III is scheduled for November 2013.
