Outotec and HDO to provide alumina refinery technology to Anrak Aluminium, India

Outotec and Hindustan Dorr-Oliver Ltd - also known as HDO - have signed a contract with Anrak Aluminium Ltd. to provide clarification and red mud washing technologies as well as services for Anrak's alumina refinery in Andhra Pradesh, India. The combined contract value of the project awarded to Outotec and HDO is approximately EUR 14 million.

Outotec is responsible for the delivery of the technology package, which includes basic process engineering and the provision of key equipment for residue separation, washing, flocculation, oxalate removal and causticization. HDO takes on the larger, local portion of the project and will oversee the detailed engineering, procurement, installation and commissioning work.

The refinery is designed to produce 1.5 million tonnes of alumina annually. The project is expected to take 18 months to complete.

"Anrak has very high purity targets in their new refinery. With our customized clean solutions we believe we can offer Anrak the best process for their refinery's residue separation. Cooperation with HDO, who has executed a number of similar projects in India, will increase cost efficiency," notes Michael Missalla, Vice President of alumina technologies for Outotec.
