Outotec has been awarded a contract by Tata Steel for the design and basic engineering of an iron ore sinter plant, supply of proprietary equipment and provision of supervisory services for Tata Steel's new Kalinganagar steel plant project in India. The contract value is around EUR 35 million.

Tata Steel is planning to build an integrated steel plant with an annual capacity of six million tonnes of steel at Kalinganagar Industrial Complex of Duburi in the Jajpur district of Orissa. "This contract reinforces the long-standing partnership between Tata Steel and Outotec, based on the earlier four sinter plants that we have supplied for Tata Steel's Jamshedpur works.
