Welcome to Metso Outotec Manisha!

Manisha Thamke recently joined us as a Project Administrator. An important reason for Manisha to join Metso Outotec was that the company values align with what is important for her in life. What also encouraged Manisha to apply was the diverse opportunities for growth. We asked her to tell us how has her start at Metso Outotec been.

Manisha Thamke recently joined us as a Project Administrator.

What have you studied? What is your work experience before joining Metso Outotec?

I have studied BSc Chemistry; BBA International Business and I’m continuing my studies by doing a Master’s in Industrial Management. In Finland, I have worked as a Project Purchaser in the marine and power Industry and as a Layout Engineer for power plant projects. While working as a Project Purchaser, I was able to strengthen my skills in teamwork and communication as well as my analytical and negotiation skills. I also learned to master many systems. As a Layout engineer, I developed my understanding of engineering drawings.

 

Where are you located?

I am located in the Espoo office. The environment is impressive, the openness you feel in the office keeps you fresh and energetic. On each floor of the office plants and vines are placed which give you the feeling of being in nature. This will surely brighten the gloomy days in winter.

The organization has various different career paths, which creates opportunities for growth within the company. All in all, I feel this is a place where I can evolve.

What type of position are you in?

I work as a Project Administrator. We deal with Services Upgrades and Modernization Projects for Grinding, Bulk and Pyro (GBP) Business Line Products. As a Project Administrator, I do the administrative work and support Project Managers with the execution of ETO (Engineered to Order) Projects, in the Multi-Company model.

The Buddy program has helped me to easily become a part of the team and the company.

How has your start at the company been?

My start at the company was smooth. My manager helped me to understand the company’s and GBP teams’ business and work content. As a part of my onboarding, I was also assigned a buddy, who introduced me to the project management workflow and added me to his project for training purposes. Attending project meetings, doing project tasks, and having discussions helped me to understand the project flow and daily work scope. The Buddy program has helped me to easily become a part of the team and the company.

What is your first impression of the culture at Metso Outotec?

The culture at Metso Outotec is diverse and inclusive. My team includes members from different parts of the world. Everyone here has freedom of speech; I feel like everyone gets a chance to share their opinion and be heard. Metso Outotec has a strict policy on biased behavior, misogyny, and racism. For me, the best things at Metso Outotec are the people I work with, the encouraging atmosphere, and your manager’s guidance which helps you grow.

 

What are you looking for the most in your career at Metso Outotec?

Reshaping my future by growing together with Metso Outotec.

Outside of work, I do a lot of gardening: I have many indoor plants and in summer I do outdoor gardening

What do you do in your free time?

Outside of work, I do a lot of gardening: I have many indoor plants and in summer I do outdoor gardening. I have also always had a great interest in sports. Currently, I enjoy badminton, swimming, and practicing skiing during winters.
