Metso Campaigns Ferrous & Heat Transfer Newsletter Ferrous & Heat Transfer Issue 1 / 2021

Message from our VP, Ferrous Heat & Transfer

Dear Valued Customer,

Greetings from Metso Outotec’s Ferrous & Heat Transfer (FHT) business line!

It gives us immense pleasure to share our first Newsletter with you. Our business line’s capabilities have strengthened considerably post Metso and Outotec merger, over a year ago—thereby, enabling us to offer an evolved and technologically advanced global portfolio.

With our enhanced capabilities, we are now more capable of catering to the specific challenges of the pelletizing industry, which is going through some interesting times. Soaring iron pellets demand, stringent emission regulations and increasing efforts to achieve de-carbonization targets is on most of our customers’ minds. We aim to empower them as well as the entire pelletizing industry with our solutions, products and processes in the field or iron ore agglomeration and pyrometallurgical processes.

At present, we already own leading technologies for the travelling grate and the grate kiln. It is further combined with our experience of designing, delivery, commissioning and servicing more than 100 plants all over the world. In iron ore sintering, we can support a huge installed base of sinter plants with upgrades and modernizations to comply with the challenges of the current transition of steelmaking. Additionally, Metso Outotec has vast experience in further equipment for the pyrometallurgical processing, like fluid bed reactors or heat exchangers.

Our strengthened capabilities are reflected well in the recent orders we are winning and the value that we have been delivering to our customers across the globe. Metso Outotec supplied the technology package for one more pellet plant for JSW Steel, supporting their [customer's] ambitious expansion plans towards a capacity of 45 million tpy steel in 2030. Our team of experts is also pushing the boundaries and focusing on developments for a carbon-neutral future, digitalization and to support existing plants in the conversion to green steel production. Worth a mention here are:

Besides reduction of energy consumption and emissions, supported by digital Solutions, we are also working on an advanced burner technology for alternative fuels and Low NOx emissions. You will certainly hear more about these in our upcoming newsletters. If you are visiting this page for the first time, please, sign up for our newsletter by clicking here.

Should you have questions on any of the topics discussed here or in the newsletter, we’ll be more than happy to support you in finding the best solution for your needs.

Looking forward to our continued partnership.
